Abstract : The achievement motivations are important, both for educational psychology, as well as for educational policy. The current study investigates the role of three academic motivational constructs (self-concept, Math attitude, and Math value) as mediators of the association between three selected student constructs (school bullying, school connectedness, and teacher concept) and mathematical achievement. The expectancy-value theory of achievement motivation is adopted to build the structural equation model which describes and examines the inter-relationship among motivation variables, student variables as predictors, and Math achievement as the outcome. For this study, the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS2019) from Saudi Arabian students in both grade 4 and grade 8 are used to verify the compatibility of the theory with the Saudi student community. For both grades, results showed that the self-concept effect has a more dominant influence than the effect of Math value on the relationship between predictors and achievement. In addition, The Math attitude has no mediating role in the existence of the self-concept. The teacher concept completely affects achievement through mediators not in a direct way for grade 8, while the teacher concept partially affects achievement through both direct and indirect paths for grade 4. In both grades, school bullying is the most factor that affected low Math achievement, especially at a younger age. These results highlight the important role of controlling school bullying that influences Math achievement and underscores the importance of mediating factors (self-concept) to track and improve student achievement. Key words: TIMSS2019, Motivation constructs, Expectancy-value theory, Structural equation model, Math achievement, Saudi students.
