The Factors Inflicting Asthma Cases among Secondary-School Female Students in Jeddah

:
This study is about the asthma disease among high school female students in Jeddah. The asthma is considered a chronic disease which many students suffer from in different educational stages. A sample of 25 schools out of 102 schools has been randomly chosen to represent all high school female section in Jeddah. All of the schools belong to the Ministry of Education and they are distributed to the four centers of educational supervision. Then a questionnaire form is applied to all infected female students with asthma using the Complete Census method. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors causing the disease of asthma in high school female students having asthma in Jeddah. To achieve the objectives of this study, some quantitative analytical methods were employed through the program statistical packages Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) such as correlation coefficient Beissiral and the graphs to illustrate the results. The study found that the highest infection rate for asthma among female students in the sample between the four centers of the educational supervision was in the South-east of Jeddah. The study also found that the closeness to dirt areas is the factor with the highest percentage among the factors causing the symptoms of asthma, where the percentage of female students who suffer from being close to areas of dirt is about 45٪. After that factor, the closeness of the car workshops comes as the second among the factors causing asthma. This was confirmed by the causing factor to the symptoms of the disease, where the percentage of Vulnerability to dust is about 46.1٪, followed by smoke shisha and cigarettes at a rate of 21.6٪, and odors by 11.8٪. The study recommended that a similar study for students with asthma to be conducted in various stages of education in Jeddah, as well as the study of female students with asthma in private schools in Jeddah. Also the study recommended that the Ministry of Education start a program to follow up with the infected students in all the Kingdom, including the chronic disease. Because those students need a continuous care and follow up. attention to female students living with asthma by the, a program to follow up on those cases at the level of students in the Kingdom, including other chronic diseases, and therefore need to students living with care and ongoing follow-up.
